Suspect in domestic violence case charged with murder

According to information provided by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department, David Samuel if facitng first-degree murder charges connected to a domestic violence case.

According to teh March 30 press release, deputies responded to a disturbance at the 5000 block of S. Geneva Way around 8 a.m. on March 30. When they arrived, the sheriff's department said deputies found a female, age 42, dead in the driveway from an apparent gunshot wound.

Deputies say the suspect allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle and crashed a short distance away. He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for superficial injuries. H

The sheriff's department said the suspect is David Samuel Lechner, 45.

On scene, investigators said witnesses tried to intervene after the incident took place and attempted to stop the suspect from fleeing but were unsuccessful.

Once Lechner was medically cleared, he was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility. He’s being held without bond on suspicion of the following charges:

18-3-102 – First Degree Murder – Felony
18-3-206 – Menacing/Aggravated Assault with a gun – Felony
18-6-800.3 – Domestic Violence – Misdemeanor
