Coach: Luke Muller
High school: Arapahoe
Sport: baseball
What made you decide you wanted to become a coach in your
present sport?
I loved the game when I played it, and when I finished my career
I wanted to continue to be around it, and coaching was a great way
to do that. I started coaching one summer when I was home from
college and fell in love with it.
Describe one of the best moments you can remember from your
coaching career?
2008, when Dave Holland, now at Regis University, hit an eighth
inning walk-off home run against Wheat Ridge in the district
finals.
What was one of the most heartbreaking moments of your coaching
career?
2007, losing in the bottom of the eighth inning against
Columbine 2-1 in the district final.
If a young athlete came to you and said he or she was interested
in a career as a coach, what advice would you give him/her?
I would play the sport as long as you can and start coaching as
soon as you graduate from college. Volunteer if you have to and
learn from as many coaches as you can. Don't get caught up in
teaching what you were taught.
What do you do for fun that isn’t related to the sport you
presently coach?
I like to travel to different countries.
If you could coach for any professional sports team for one
year, which would it be and what changes would you make?
The Colorado Rockies, and I don't think I would change much this
year
Your present team just won the state championship. What do you
(and/or the team) do to celebrate the achievement?
BBQ at my place.
Walt Disney pictures decides to make a motion picture about your
team and its achievements. What celebrity actor/actress would play
you in the movie?
Kevin Costner. He is good in baseball movies.
