Candidates for Littleton City Council who led the pack in first-round fundraising reports have since reported lesser amounts in their second finance filings. Candidates had between Sept. 17 and Oct. 7 to report new donations and expenditures.
Krista Kafer, candidate for an at-large seat, topped the pack in second-round fundraising with $9,615.22. Her opponent, Gretchen Rydin, who had outraised Kafer last period, reported $7,293.49, less than her initial contribution amount of $8,601.00.
Outside the at-large race, the race for mayor saw Kyle Schlachter bring in nearly half the amount he reported last period with $5,700. Schlachter still has the most money on hand of all nine candidates. Mayoral candidate Carol Fey, a council incumbent, reported raising $624, which is $1,026 less than she raised last period. Candidate Jon Buck, who reported raising just $225 last period, boosted his donations to $1,040 in the second round.
Candice Ferguson, who is challenging incumbent Patrick Driscoll for his District 1 seat, outraised Driscoll last reporting period. But according to this round's filings, Driscoll brought in $1,160 more than Ferguson with $2,780 raised. Ferguson reported $1,118.00, a slight decrease from her total donation amount of $1,340 last period.
Stephen Barr, candidate for District 3, reported $4,102.71 this period, slightly less than his donation amount of $4,506 last round. His opponent, Paul Bingham, is running a self-funded campaign and reported no financial contributions.
Candidates still continued to receive donations from notable community members and organizations.
Buck, a mayoral candidate running against an incumbent, Fey, and a candidate who previously served on council as an at-large member, Schlachter, received a donation from current Littleton Mayor Jerry Valdes.
Ferguson received a donation from Joe Rice, a former state representative from Littleton.
The Metro Housing Coalition, a political PAC, donated $2,500 to Schlachter and $1,500 to Driscoll, Barr and Kafer. Schlachter also received a donation from the Apartment Association of Metro Denver
Kafer was the only candidate who continued to report slightly more contributions coming in from residents outside Littleton.
