Press release
Arapahoe County Judge Ethan Feldman left the bench after 20
years on December 31, 2011 and today formally announced his
candidacy for District Attorney in the 18th Judicial District,
encompassing Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln Counties.
"Having spent nearly four decades as a prosecutor, an attorney
in private practice, and a judge, I have devoted my career to
keeping our community safe, respecting the law, and seeking justice
for victims of crime," said Feldman. "I am running for District
Attorney because I have the experience, knowledge, and the proven
record of leadership to revitalize the DA's Office so that we may
more effectively prosecute offenders, promote community safety, and
protect victims," Feldman added.
Ethan Feldman received his law degree from the University of
Denver. In
1974 he was hired as a Deputy District Attorney in the 18th
District and was later promoted to Chief Deputy District Attorney.
He tried approximately 70 jury trials, including 11 homicides, as a
prosecutor. In 1980 he left the DA's office for private practice.
In 1991, Feldman was appointed as an Arapahoe County Court Judge, a
position in which he served nearly 20 years. He has been retained
by the voters five times. For 6 of the last 10 years he was
assigned to felony court where he had the initial responsibility
for approximately 95% of the felony cases filed in Arapahoe
County.
"Crime is not a political phenomenon. As your District Attorney,
I won't play politics. I will lead with integrity and bring
fairness and accountability to the District Attorney's office,"
Feldman said.
Ethan Feldman is running for the Democratic nomination for
District Attorney in the 18th Judicial District. He is the only
Democratic candidate. The primary election is June 26th and the
