Arapahoe continues to search for a second win on the season
after Week 8 of high school football. Heritage blistered Abe
Lincoln. Littleton took a home loss, and Valor Christian continued
it undefeated season.
Cherokee Trail 28, Arapahoe 16
Arapahoe (1-6) took another Centennial League loss at home Oct.
23 at Littleton Public Schools Stadium in Littleton by a 28-16
final.
Davis Gunter scored two touchdowns for the Warriors. His first
was in the first quarter on a 39-yard run. His second TD came in
the fourth on a 6-yard break.
Cameron Durkin put a kick through the uprights for a 28-yard
field goal in the second quarter.
Gunter finished with 139 rushing yards.
Skyview 34, Englewood 12
Englewood scored a pair of late touchdowns but it wasn’t enough
in a 34-12 loss at Skyview on Oct. 24.
Skyview’s strong running game proved effective and the
Wolverines’ defense kept the Pirates out of the end zone for most
of the game.
Quarterback Jacob Lowder got Englewood on the scoreboard with a
48-yard pass to Chris Nunnelly and, later in the final quarter,
Lowder connected on a 20-yard pass to Johnny Waltz.
Lowder finished the game 13 for 22 for 202 yards. The loss
leaves the Pirates at 0-8 on the season.
Heritage 56, Abe Lincoln 6
Heritage (7-1) played host to a 56-6 blistering of Abe Lincoln
Oct. 22 at Littleton Public Schools Stadium.
Eagles quarterback Mitch Griebel threw three touchdown passes
and rushed for two as well. His longest touchdown pass was 73 yards
to receiver Seth Kisselman. Shane Opitz was the receiver on the
other two; one for 8 yards and another for 21 yards. Griebel’s
longest rushing TD was for 46 yards.
Josh Meyers scored two rushing touchdowns, both for 2 yards.
Bobby Haynes also punched a touchdown in on a 6-yard rush. Drake
Solomon went 8-for-8 on point-after-touchdown kicks.
Griebel finished with 128 passing yards and 127 rushing. Meyers
had 82 rushing yards. Kisselman had 72 yards receiving.
Monarch 25, Littleton 9
Littleton (6-2) took a loss at home Oct. 24 at Littleton Public
Schools Stadium against undefeated Monarch. With the loss, the
Lions slip into a tie for third place in the Class 4A North Metro
League standings.
Lions quarterback Noah Gaumer scored the team’s only touchdown
on a 2-yard run. Ben Hranchak was credited with a safety for
Littleton.
Gaumer finished with 133 passing yards and 56 rushing yards.
Mister Jones racked up 90 yards rushing. Kevin Farley had 62
receiving yards.
Valor Christian 21, Elizabeth 14
Valor Christian (8-0) remained undefeated after a road win over
Elizabeth Oct. 23 at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth with a
21-14 final.
Eagles quarterback Brock Berglund threw two touchdown passes;
one to Maxwell McCaffrey for 4 yards and another to Ryan Nu'u for
45 yards.
Berglund finished with 168 passing yards. Nu’u booked 103 yards
receiving. Jared Ward had 76 rushing yards.
