Cherry Creek School District to hold June in-person graduations

Last year's ceremonies took place in late July, early August

Cherry Creek School District plans to hold in-person graduation ceremonies in early June, according to a district announcement online.

“After all (seniors) have been through during the COVID-19 pandemic, the district is delighted to be able to mark this important milestone in their lives,” the district's announcement said.

The ceremonies will take place at the Stutler Bowl stadium at Cherry Creek High School, located at 4700 S. Yosemite St. in Greenwood Village.

Regarding coronavirus precautions, all health and safety protocols required at the time will be followed, the district's announcement said. That will likely include masks or face coverings, a limited number of guests per graduate and physically distanced seating, the announcement added.

To accommodate other family and friends, all of the ceremonies will be livestreamed.

The plans may be altered based on health and safety guidance, the announcement said.

“Congratulations to you — the members of the class of 2021 — and your families on reaching this important point in your lives,” the announcement said. “Enjoy the weeks ahead and savor all of the special 'senior moments.'”

The ceremonies are scheduled for 8 a.m. on the following dates:

• Cherry Creek, June 4

• Eaglecrest, June 5

• Grandview, June 7

• Cherokee Trail, June 8

• Overland, June 9

• Smoky Hill, June 10

• Cherry Creek Elevation, June 11

The ceremony for Endeavor Academy is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. June 11.

Endeavor is the district's alternative education high school, which offers a more individualized approach and smaller classes than traditional schools. Cherry Creek Elevation is the district's online school.

During the first few months of the coronavirus's recorded spread through Colorado, Cherry Creek district in 2020 held graduation ceremonies at the end of July and early August. The precautions last year included similar requirements such as wearing a mask or face covering and respecting physical distancing guidelines.
