In another close meeting between Arapahoe and Mullen, the Warriors finished on the losing end once again.

Arapahoe High School baseball played host to Mullen April 3 at Arapahoe High School and fell to the Mustangs 9-7. It was the second meeting between the two teams after the Mustangs beat Arapahoe March 31 at home 8-7.

This time around, Arapahoe was up 5-3 in the bottom of the third inning, but Mullen brought in two runs in each of the final three innings. The Warriors were able to answer two in the bottom of the seventh. Arapahoe had 11 hits against the Mustangs, same as the first meeting.

Justin Byrd, who went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs, Stephen Gunnell (2-for-4, 2) and Andrew Scully (1-for-2, 1) each had a home run in the April 3 game. Byrd and Gunnell hit a home run against Mullen the last time as well. In the latest match-up, Byrd also had a double, as did Brian Guymon, who went 2-for-3 at the dish.

Zach Scott, starting pitcher for the Warriors, worked the bump for five innings with five strikeouts. He allowed five hits. Tim Billingsley relieved for two innings.

In the March 31 match-up, Guymon had connected twice for a two-base hit after going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Taylor Davis pitched five innings in that game with eight strikeouts, allowing seven hits.

With the second loss to Mullen, Arapahoe fell to a 6-4 overall record, 2-3 in the Class 5A Centennial League.
