The Bruins remain strong with a trip to the soccer finals on the horizon.

But first, Cherry Creek High School boys soccer will have to get past Boulder Nov. 6 at Englewood High School’s Pirate Field. The winner heads to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City for the Class 5A state championship title game against either Mountain Vista or ThunderRidge.

Creek entered the state playoffs as its No. 2 seed with a record of 11-1-3. They defeated Gate way and Fort Collins in the first two rounds of the tournament to face No. 10 seed Bear Creek in the quarterfinals Oct. 2 at Legacy Stadium in Aurora. The Bruins beat Bear Creek 3-0.

In that game, senior Josh Alswang, junior Karsten Hanlin and junior Cole Davis each scored a goal for the Bruins. senior Tom Jaeger and senior Joey Logsdon each had an assist.

ThunderRidge is the No. 21 and surprising teams through the three rounds of playoffs before facing cross-town rival and Continental League champion Mountain Vista, the No. 1 seed, for the other spot in the state finals.
