A man suspected of involvement in a fatal hit-and-run on Christmas in Centennial turned himself in at the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office the morning of Dec. 26, the sheriff's office said.
A vehicle struck a pedestrian just after 8:30 p.m. Dec. 25 in the 11000 block of East Arapahoe Road between South Joliet and Lima streets. Deputies responded to the scene regarding a person lying in the roadway. The pedestrian man was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital.
The man who turned himself in as the driver had not been arrested or cited yet as of Dec. 27, but authorities believe he is the driver, and his vehicle is at the sheriff's office's facility, said Julie Brooks, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office. The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation, Brooks said.
The suspect's name and other information are not available, Brooks said. The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office will release information on the victim.
No further information was available from the sheriff's office due to the ongoing investigation.
