Fountain of youth

Warmer temperatures over the July 4 weekend filled local pools and packed area lakes, but for a handful of Centennial kids, the best deal going to beat the heat — and the crowd — is the in-ground fountain at The Streets at SouthGlenn. Alternating water jets made for a wet and wonderful playground, all within earshot of watchful parents who enjoyed watching kids dash in and out of the spray. Many brought towels and lawn chairs, creating a small urban beach of sorts. “Water is the best toy,” said Janet Minger of Centennial. “The fountain is fun and it’s free.” Photos by Deborah Grigsby
