District 1 councilmembers Rick Dindinger and Vorry Moon have scheduled an election forum for Oct. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce, located at 2154 E. Commons Ave. #342 at The Streets at SouthGlenn.
Residents can learn more about Centennial ballot question 2G and get to know the mayoral and District 1 city council candidates before the November election.
Peter Jones, a reporter with The Villager newspaper, will moderate the forum.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates and of those presenting pros and cons of the 2G ballot question, which proposed that the city leverage its existing fiber optic network to provide Internet and cable services.
“This forum is not about keeping score, but about trying to get information to voters so that they can make educated decisions when they fill out their ballots,” says Dindinger, who is term-limited.
Kathy Turley and Mike Hanbery are running for Dindinger's seat.
Election Day is Nov. 5.
Ballots for the nonpartisan city council race and initiative will be mailed Oct. 15-18 to all registered Centennial voters.
